Good for Frightening Horses!”

“Good for frightening horses!” was a comment made by the Duke of Wellington to his staff in reaction to having watched a trial firing of the new-fangled weapon, the rockets!
Have Fin and Thomo risked their lives for nothing?
It was the duke, himself, who had sent them to discover the worth of this new weapon developed by Congreve.
It was as part of the Rocket Brigade that they were part of the small contingent of British troops that took part in the campaign leading to the Battle of Leipzig (you can follow this adventure in “For Bravery in the Field”).
It had been the death of their Captain.
Their fourth adventure begins with Fin and Thomo returning briefly to London, bumping into Lady Eleanor and her neighbour, Jane Austin, before having to build a new team of rocket men as they sail back to Wellington’s army as it is about to invade France.
They will have to combat the enemy at sea as well as on land; they will have to survive everything that nature can throw at them; they have to prove to Wellington that their new weapon has a place in his army; they will be tested further than ever before as they cross rivers, rescue boats to create bridges, stop the enemy from destroying the vital crossings, and fight against ridiculous odds as they are isolated on the wrong side of the river near Bayonne!
Fin and Thomo never let us down! They will find a way to overcome what to many seems impossible with the help of their new found ‘family’ of the Rocket Troop. The adventure will take them into France via a Christmas and New Year celebration that will never be forgotten as they help the local population revive an age-old tradition.
This fourth adventure will not be the end for Fin and Thomo, but it will lead to the battle that was never meant to be fought at Toulouse and finish with a chance meeting with a man in disguise when a riotous mob has to be disbursed.
Join Fin and Thomo to discover whether the new weapon has more merit than simply being “Good for Frightening Horses!”
